Who loves a good Monte Cristo sandwich dipped in raspberry jam? I DO! It’s like a cross between French toast and a sandwich. Good old sweet and salty combination! I made this version a little more kid friendly and easier to eat. The key is to make sure you use the right kind of bread that can be manipulated into a flat slice and pliable for rolling. So I suggest using a whole grain white bread or hoagie bun. Instead of using the classic raspberry jam for dipping, I used strawberry jam for that touch of sweetness and spread inside the bun! This is a pretty simple recipe, but oh so good!

FUN FACT: The Monte Cristo type sandwich originated in France as a Croque-Monsieur, which is a battered sandwich with French cheeses such as Gruyere and ham or turkey. Once this sandwich was Americanized, the types of cheeses and meats have been tried in many different ways!
