It’s the holidays again! I don’t know about you, but quick and easy yet impressive is key to a busy holiday! This cute little appetizer is sweet and tangy with classic syrupy yams, cranberry orange relish and savory sage. Similar to tiny sweet potato pies with a tangy twist. I also used frozen, pre-made mini pastry shells so all I had to do was bake those for 5 minutes!-
FUN FACT: Did you know that the original sweet potato pie was served as a savory dish until the 19th century when it moved on over to the dessert table?
Ingredients
- 15 Mini frozen pastry shells
- 1 15oz can Yams Drained
- 1 Pinch Ground cloves
- 1/4 Tsp Nutmeg
- 1/2 Tsp cinnamon
- 1 Container Cranberry orange relish From Trader Joe's (you will not be using the entire container)
- 2 Leaves of fresh sage Finely chopped

Instructions
- Bake frozen pastry shells according to package directions. Let cool.
- Drain canned yams and add to a mixing bowl. Add cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Mush it all together with a fork and set aside.
- Use a small spoon to dollop the yam mixture into each pastry cup.
- Top with a smaller dollop of cranberry orange relish on top of sweet potato and garnish with chopped sage.
